What can you expect in this role?

  • Be responsible for the management of a Specialty Lines portfolio. Utilizing industry experience, strong analytical and financial analysis skills, strong relationships as well as superior communication and organizational skills, the Senior Underwriter – Professional Lines will be expected to work closely with stakeholders to ensure best in class service managing the day to day relationship with our insurance partners.
  • Manages a portfolio in accordance with guidelines and approved rating models, ensuring best practice is always maintained
  • Negotiates terms, conditions and premium for new and renewal accounts within individual assigned portfolio and authority level
  • Provide pipeline for new business
  • Build strong relationships and drive profitable growth with key brokers and clients
  • Build strong relationships within the Commercial Lines team
  • Provide technical mentorship and review accounts with regional underwriters
  • Provide input and assist in product development
  • Participate in industry events

What do you bring to the role?

  • University degree
  • Minimum 10 years of D&O experience and/or E&O experience
  • Technical knowledge of policy wordings
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong knowledge of various business models, governance best practices and ability to spot weaknesses and make underwriting recommendations to mitigate downside risk
  • Excellent research skills
  • Committed team player who will engage in constructive discussion and provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement
  • Be one of the first members of a highly motivated team
