The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic neurologist with clinical expertise in general neurology, stroke management and/or multiple sclerosis. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Scientist. The expected start date of the position is January 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Preference will be given to individuals with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out research, as demonstrated by publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades. In particular, the expectation is that the individual will have completed a PhD in clinical/health services research or the equivalent training time in neurological disorders research programs to advance understanding and lead to better health outcomes in our diverse patient populations. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in relevant educational activities including supervision of trainees at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto.

The successful candidate will report to the Interim Head, Division of Neurology at St. Michael’s Hospital. Work in the MS clinic will be under the direction of the clinic’s Medical Director and work in the stroke program will be under the direction of the program’s Medical Director. The Division currently consists of 18 full time neurologists and has a robust MS research program as well as expertise in stroke and movement disorders.
