Job description: We are seeking a Field Operations technician located in the region of Swift Current, Saskatchewan who will be responsible for the hands-on day-to-day integration, repair and maintenance of our fixed wireless network. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a greater team. This position acts as a prime in-field technical contact for support groups in the areas of network repair, maintenance and support. This role requires basic knowledge of IP Networking, intermediate knowledge of fixed wireless network deployments as well as a basic knowledge of construction and tower rigging. This position reports to the Field Operations Manager / Team Leader and will involve both on call support and off-hours maintenance work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implement maintenance and optimization activities as well as handling support requests.
  • Support ongoing Construction/Network Upgrades
  • Scheduling and resolution of issues
  • Working with the deployment of -48VDC power systems, Ciena, Cisco, MRV, Ceragon, Dragonwave, Huawei, Telrad, Motorola & Ubiquiti
  • Configuring and installing Network Equipment: -48VDC power systems, Ciena, Cisco, MRV, Ceragon, Dragonwave, Huawei, Telrad, Motorola & Ubiquiti.
  • Responsible for the construction and maintenance of communication tower sites
  • Travel throughout your designated area 98% of the time

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, verbal, listening and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and interact with groups throughout the organization.
  • Capable of working on a variety of projects and coordinating multiple priorities.
  • Basic understanding of IP networking
  • Experience with the construction and maintenance of communication tower sites;
  • Strong Troubleshooting, Organizational and time/task Management skills
  • 1 year related work experience and a degree/diploma from a related discipline.
  • Experience with fixed wireless deployments.
  • Exposure to industry standards for Health & Safety, Construction & CSA
  • Working knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, routers, switches, DHCP
  • Working knowledge of microwave links: Dragon Wave and Ceragon; Broadcast systems: Huawei, Telrad and Motorola; Switches and Routers: Ciena, Cisco and ADVA
  • Strong understanding of fixed wireless network architecture and infrastructure.
