A two-year Career Executive trial period will be required.

The Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions is seeking well qualified career executive candidates for an interesting and challenging career as Deputy Warden at the Dodge Correctional Institution.

The Deputy Warden develops, implements and administers the security, education, treatment, and support services programs. This position also supervises assigned key program staff in the areas of security, treatment and education; acts as the institution liaison to provide accurate information to legislators, government officials, other external individuals and organizations regarding Institution programs; and implements the Affirmative Action/Civil Rights Compliance Plan (AA/CRC) plan in areas of responsibility.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Minimally qualified applicants will have training and experience in:

  • Management and leadership of day-to-day operations in a multi-disciplinary security setting (e.g., treatment, medical, education, food service, social services, business, facilities, security, or others).
  • Staff supervision or leadership responsibilities (e.g., hiring, evaluating work, resolving disputes or discipline, staff development or training, etc.).
  • Coordinating, developing and maintaining working relationships with public and elected officials, state and community agencies, community leaders, local county governments and officials; using effective public relations techniques.
